THE Selangor Youth Community (SAY) in collaboration with Yayasan Raja Muda Selangor (YRMS) have recently completed an initiative called the “Kita Bantu” programme to help individuals and families affected by the Covid-19 pandemic.

Since its establishment in April 2020, the programme has channelled various types of assistance to the affected groups including bottom 40% income group families, students, small traders, frontliners and the recent major flood victims.

As of January 2022, a total of 50,405 recipients have benefitted from contributions given from public and corporate parties, such as Sunway Group, which have been raised through the programme.

The latest contribution was presented by Hap Seng Consolidated Bhd’s business development division GM Gary Pang to Raja Muda of Selangor Tengku Amir Shah Ibni Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah Alhaj, to help reduce the burden for those affected by the floods in Selangor at the end of December 2021.

Pang represented the Lau Gek Poh Foundation during the event.

A total of 50 families from Kampung Kebun Bunga, Shah Alam, received the donations which included wet and dry food, health care packs, electrical necessities and cleaning tools needed by flood victims to recover from the disaster.

Electrical items such as blenders, electric jug kettles, gas stoves and rice cookers were among the items received by residents in other areas such as Sungai Lui and Batu 13, Puchong, which were also affected by the floods.

Since the onset of the floods, SAY and YRMS have worked together to help those affected in several districts around Selangor including Kuala Langat (through the Malaysian Youth Council), Hulu Langat (through the Student Volunteer Foundation), Petaling and Klang.
