Met Gala 2019The annual Met Gala is an official fundraiser held on the first Monday in May for the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute in New York City. The gala was established in 1948 and was taken to new heights in 1973 by former Vogue editor-inchief Diana Vreeland when she became a special consultant to the Costume Institute. The event is currently presided over by American Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour and marks the grand opening of the Costume Institute’s annual fashion exhibition.
